Driven by an unwavering determination and passion for his craft, Tim Wu – best known as Elephante – has amassed a deep catalogue of original music that has earned him rave reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone, SiriusXM, Beats 1 and Billboard as well as respect from the cream of the dance music elite. His musical maturity, melodic sensibilities and innate ability to create genre-defying hits time and time again could have him easily mistaken for an artist way beyond his years and has seen the dance pop prodigy win the hearts of legions of fans across the world.
Hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Tim began his musical career as a classically trained pianist and singer-songwriter, playing in bands in high school and college. Graduating from the world-renowned Harvard University, soon after taking his first desk job Wu realized that the corporate lifestyle was not for him, as he spent every waking hour producing music to admittedly keep himself sane. Finally embracing the ‘Elephant in the room’ that was his desire to break free from the monotonous 9-5 routine, Wu set his sights on the dance music sphere and Elephante was born – quite literally giving up his day job in order to hone his craft and make his mark as one of the most innovative dance music producers around today.
The release of his inaugural I Am The Elephante EP in September 2016 heralded a new chapter in the young producer’s career as he charted alongside some of dance music’s finest. The EP, which debuted at #2 on the iTunes Dance Album charts, has so far accumulated over 60 million plays on Spotify alone as well as support from Billboard, Beats 1, iHeart Radio, Music Choice, and more of music’s biggest names, all as an independently-released project. Lead radio single “Closer” reached #18 on the Billboard Dance Airplay chart and was selected as the #28 song of 2016 by SiriusXM BPM, while streaming leader “Catching On” approaches 25M listens to date.
Now Elephante returns with his sophomore EP, Glass Mansion, a 9 song project including features from Anjulie and Nevve as well as Elephante’s solo vocal debut on the title track (along with a duet effort on “All Over Again”) set for release June 15, 2018. Already-released singles “Troubled”, “Come Back For You”, and “The In Between” have amassed millions of streams, gained coveted rotation spots on SiriusXM and iHeart Radio, and received support from the likes of Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, Dancing Astronaut, and more.
Signed to CAA, Elephante has appeared at over 20 major festivals since May 2017 including upcoming performances at EDC Las Vegas, Tampa’s Sunset Music Fest, and Seattle’s Paradiso, and past slots at Hangout Fest and New York City’s Electric Zoo and Billboard Hot 100, while also fulfilling his duties as a resident DJ at Hakkasan Las Vegas alongside Calvin Harris, Zedd, and Kaskade. He has sold out shows from New York to Mississippi, DC to San Francisco, and everywhere in between, and graced the stages of historic venues such as Terminal 5, House of Blues, 930 Club and Concord Music Hall.
While self-releasing all of his music since 2015, Elephante has amassed 1.5M+ monthly listeners and 5.5M+ monthly streams on Spotify, with his debut independent EP alone totaling 60M+ streams on the platform. Whether he’s crafting originals or whipping up remixes for the A-list, Elephante has rapidly carved a name for himself as one of the most
exciting producers on the scene of late. Demonstrating a diversity that has seen him achieve over 150 million total digital streams over his relatively short career to date, and with demand for his unique sound reaching unprecedented heights, it’s safe to say Elephante’s star is most definitely on the rise.
